SYNOPSIS

Set in Los Angeles, Criminal Virtue is about the realities of international organized crime, where Russian, Israeli, Asian, Latin, and American crime syndicates vie for control over just about everything from guns and drugs, to prostitution and extortion, to fraud and the lucrative gasoline business, where billions are funneled away every year through a complex and sophisticated gasoline-tax scam that ultimately leads investigating authorities nowhere. This amazing and multi-faceted story is seen through the eyes of a small-time hustler who does his best to keep his criminal world away from the people he loves, only to discover that the people he loves are a lot closer to it than he thinks.

JAKE VIRTUE is a college dropout who’s wasted the majority of his twenties chasing easy unattached sex with older women, only to find himself shacked up with MELISSA LEE, a washed out has-been of an ex-model and retail entrepreneur from Hong Kong. Melissa has three kids from two failed marriages, and her bizzare extended family lives right across the street from them, and looks at him with nothing but suspicion and disapproval. Pouring drinks for a living since he was twenty-one, Jake was never afraid to break a few laws to make some extra cash, and together with his overly ambitious partner, STEVE CAAN, the two of them have been making good money together peddling everything from drugs, to bootleg DVDs and counterfeit fashion goods. But when Steve drags Jake into a $250,000 ecstasy deal that's way out of their league, Jake finds himself caught between the Gay Mafia and the Russian Mob, with an Israeli club owner breathing down both their necks to make things right with everyone. Meanwhile, the harder Jake tries to hide his criminal world from Melissa and her family, the harder it becomes for Melissa to hide the fact that her mother MARY LEE, the ruthless widow of a Triad society Godfather, is more dangerous than all of them combined.

Every episode of this one hour drama draws Jake Virtue deeper into the criminal world, to levels he’d never dreamed of reaching... nor wanted to.
